What could a Second Opinion on Your Investments Show You?

Your investment portfolio plays an important role in your financial future.

A fresh perspective from a professional portfolio manager can help you better understand how your investments are positioned—and identify potential risks, costs, or inefficiencies you may not have considered.

Go Beyond Performance

Your portfolio's recent return only tells part of the story. A second opinion can help you understand how your portfolio is constructed, where your risks are coming from, what you're paying, and whether your investments are working together toward your financial goals.

Portfolio Construction

Are your investments working together as a coordinated portfolio—or have they simply accumulated over time?

Risk

Understand how much risk you're taking and where that risk is concentrated.

Diversification

Look beyond the number of investments you own to understand your actual exposure across asset classes, sectors, industries and securities.

Fees & Expenses

Identify advisory fees, fund expenses, and other investment costs that may affect your long-term results.

Investment Selection

Evaluate the role your individual holdings play within your overall portfolio.

Alignment With Your Goals

Consider whether your current allocation and investment strategy are consistent with your objectives, time horizon and income needs.

What does a portfolio manager see?

Asset Allocation

Fund & Security Overlap

Asset Allocation

How much of your portfolio is allocated to stocks, fixed income, cash and other investments—and is that allocation appropriate for what you're trying to accomplish?

Sector Exposure

Fund & Security Overlap

Asset Allocation

Two portfolios with the same stock/bond allocation can have very different risks. We examine where your equity exposure is concentrated across sectors and industries.

Owning several mutual funds or ETFs can create the appearance of diversification while repeatedly exposing you to many of the same underlying companies.

Risk Analysis

Investment Costs

Fund & Security Overlap

We evaluate the potential range of outcomes associated with your current investments and whether that level of risk is consistent with your expectations.

Advisory fees aren't always the only costs associated with an investment strategy. We help you understand the costs associated with your current portfolio.

Your Second Opinion from a Portfolio Manager

There's a difference between selecting investments and managing a portfolio.

At Severin Investments, investment management is at the core of what we do. Our team constructs and actively manages diversified portfolios using individual stocks, bonds and ETFs.

Our investment process considers decisions at multiple levels:

Asset Classes → Sectors → Industries → Individual Securities

We research investments, evaluate changing market conditions and make portfolio decisions on behalf of our clients.

That same investment-management perspective is what we bring to your second opinion.

We Believe Your Investments Should Work Together

Rather than treating each investment as a separate decision, we believe a portfolio should be managed around a coordinated objective.

Active Management
Portfolio positioning can evolve as economic and market conditions change.

Individual Securities
Our core portfolios primarily use individual stocks and bonds, providing transparency into what our clients actually own.

Diversification
We diversify across asset classes, sectors, industries and individual securities to manage portfolio-level risk.

Personalization
Separate accounts provide greater flexibility to accommodate individual circumstances than pooled investment vehicles alone.

A Disciplined Approach to Investment Management

Independent Fiduciary Investment Adviser since 2013

Severin Investments is registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission as an investment adviser.

SEC registration does not imply any minimum level of skill or experience. However, it does require  public disclosure documents with information about how firms and their representatives operate, and creates a fiduciary relationship between us and our clients.

Committed to Institutional Investment Standards

Our performance represents real client portfolios—not back tested hypothetical results.

Severin Investments claims compliance with the Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS®), a rigorous set of industry standards designed to promote fair representation and full disclosure of investment performance.

Our investment strategies are presented through composites that include actual client portfolios managed according to the same strategy. GIPS composites cannot include hypothetical, simulated or backtested performance.

Our firm is also independently verified annually by a third-party verification firm.

Independent Recognition

Does getting a second opinion mean I have to change advisors or investments?

No.

A second opinion is exactly that—a second opinion.

You don't need to transfer your accounts or make any changes to have us review your investments.

We'll help you understand what we see, answer your questions, and discuss whether there are areas you may want to reconsider.

If you're happy with what you have, you'll leave with greater confidence in your current strategy. If we identify opportunities for improvement, you'll have additional information to consider.
